Saturday’s words can be good byes and hellos. After
packing our belongings and trying to finish up perishable foods – like eggs and
milk, I went to the children’s ward to say good bye to some of the children and
mamas I had gotten to know.
I drew a picture of dear Clever – please pray for complete
healing for this sweet boy.
Wide was
smiling so big and his dear father was tenderly taking such good care of him.
I
also hugged on Lazarus’ mama who I learned has been coming to Beit Cure for a
couple of years and while Lazarus was receiving medical help (he is paralyzed and
cannot walk) his mama was learning sewing, croqueting and other skills that she
then used to support her family. She
made an orange and white headband for me.
She borrowed and read my children’s Bible that I brought along and I found other
activities for both her and Lazarus to do – coloring books, children’s books. She is such a picture of a caring mama. Lazarus seemed to be doing better Thursday,
Friday and this morning – continue to pray for this sweet boy as well.
Michael said goodbye to the kitchen crew (who were some of
his soccer buddies) and received one last meal – he liked the chicken and rice.
We also said good bye to our house mates – an interesting
mix of young men from Germany, Great Britain and the US. One was a nurse, another a med student, and
two who work with media and administrative details. We would be curious what these guys would be doing 10 years from now.
Hellos and hugs for Lynn who arrived around 12. We loaded up her Nissan (looks like a Land
Rover but isn’t) and I do mean loaded and headed off to gather supplies before
going out to the bush. We did most of
our shopping at a modern Mandalay Mall – which includes a grocery store and
KFC. She was purchasing supplies for a
duplex at Mukinge for visiting doctors and nurses – so we added to the load
along with some groceries. We also
treated ourselves to a spot of coffee (say that with an accent)
After a stop for petrel we headed out to the Flying Mission
Guesthouse and we said good bye to paved roads.
The guest house is lovely and dinner was waiting for us – tasty lasagna (sounds familiar yea). What a sweet thing friendship is, picking up
wherever it last landed, just enjoying each other’s company – laughing sharing
gifts.
